Moreover, <strong>Europe\u2019s message is clear: when non-fossil alternatives offer comparable performance, their adoption is strongly encouraged<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, <strong>brands are moving faster<\/strong>. Many beauty and fragrance companies have included the reduction of virgin plastic and the increased use of renewable materials in their <strong>2030 sustainability roadmaps<\/strong>, not only in the structural components of packaging, but also in more complex decorative finishes. It was there that the innovation found its first supporter: <strong>Interparfums<\/strong>, <strong>an international fragrance company known for developing and producing perfumes for leading luxury brands<\/strong>, who immediately recognized its potential.<\/p>\n<p>This marked the beginning of a development journey that led to <strong>four generations of Jimmy Choo I Want Choo folding cartons<\/strong>. An evolution driven by continuous research and numerous technical challenges: ensuring <strong>colour and sparkle stability<\/strong> (crucial in the beauty sector), optimizing <strong>high-speed industrial processes<\/strong>, and maintaining compatibility with <strong>complex varnishes and premium finishing techniques<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>After the <strong>Jimmy Choo I Want Choo<\/strong> (red edition) and <strong>I Want Choo Forever<\/strong> (black edition) editions, both developed in traditional glitter with 12 \u03bcm PET film, Interparfums wanted to further evolve its iconic packaging by introducing a more responsible approach to materials.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I Want Choo Le Parfum <\/strong>(Gold Edition) marked the first real sustainable upgrade, with the official debut of <strong>Eco Glitter, produced using a cellulose-based film of plant origin<\/strong>. This version also introduced the transition to an <strong>8 \u03bcm PET film<\/strong>, a change that resulted in a <strong>33% reduction in plastic<\/strong>, while preserving the visual balance required by the brand.<\/p>\n<p>The most recent upgrade &#8211; <strong>I Want Choo With Love<\/strong> (pink edition), released in 2025 &#8211; marks the most significant step in the entire evolution. The folding carton eliminates the metallized PET film entirely, replacing it with <strong>cold foil<\/strong>, which further reduces plastic content and improves recyclability.<strong> This transition represents a substantial technical advance, as cold foil allows the board to be metallized only where needed &#8211; without laminating the entire surface with PET &#8211; resulting in a lower plastic footprint while preserving excellent visual impact.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This progression has allowed the brand to preserve the expressive impact typical of the Jimmy Choo universe while significantly reducing the environmental footprint of the folding carton.<\/p>\n<p>As <strong>Pauline Moret<\/strong>, <strong><em>Purchasing and Packaging Development Manager at Interparfums<\/em><\/strong>, explains: \u201c<em>The aim was to create a packaging that was not only distinctive and visually striking, but also in line with the brand&#8217;s values of sustainability. We therefore introduced elements such as the <strong>eco glitter for a more responsible sparkle effect<\/strong>, as well <strong>as reducing the plastic content by 33%<\/strong> thanks to the limited use of polyester in the folding carton. In this way, the design combines aesthetics with environmental commitment.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Next challenge?<strong> Achieving compatibility with water-based varnishes. <\/strong>This is a technically demanding step that our R&amp;D teams at ISEM Packaging Group are actively working on <strong>to further improve recyclability in pulping systems<\/strong>.
